Unofficial Oblivion Patch Download

 admin

So now I have to wait for the entire game to download and reinstall again since the readme for the patch said to replace files if prompted to. I used 7-Zip to extract the files, and then as the readme said I copied the files from each of the folders into my Oblivion folder. I have a question about the Unofficial Oblivion Patch. Step for all optional mods you would like to install. Oblivion.esm=1, Morrowind_ob.esm=1, Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp=1. So, after a fresh install of Oblivion GOTY, into a non-UAC folder, and MO installed As this.

Overview

A load order dictates the order in which mods are loaded by the game you are using. They can sometimes be important in diagnosing technical issues with your game so it can be quite important to sort your load order out properly.

Before you start

Load orders will not fix everything, some mods will just not work with some others and some require special handling. There is no magic formula to a load order, just a set of general guidelines. If your load order works and you are able to play the game, it is right - for you.

Before you start messing with load orders:

  • Be sure you have patched to the latest version of the game - some mods will not work unless you do.
  • If any mod requires OBSE (Oblivion) or FOSE (Fallout) be sure it is properly installed and you start the game using these programs, not using the default game launcher.
  • Be sure you have the proper tools to change the load order, usually OBMM and BOSS

Any mod that changes something in another mod MUST be loaded after the mod it makes changes to. Such as patches to a mod.

Recommendations

Batch loading a bunch of mods without testing is asking for trouble. The time you think you will save will be more than made up by the time you spend in troubleshooting. Install one at a time, test that one, then after it is working install another one. This way your load order gets built one mod at a time. And you are never trying to 'fix' more than one mod at a time.

Note: these recommendations are based on Oblivion but can also apply to Morrowind and Fallout games.

For those who insist on making things hard for themselves:

  • Remove Deadly reflex and Streamline (if you use them) until everything else is working.
  • Use BOSS https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/29790 for your initial setting.

At the end of the BOSS order, there will be some mods that it did not know where to put. Use OBMM to place them manually.

Here is a load order recommendation, originally by Dev_akm and modified by Bben46

  • Oblivion.esm - this MUST be the first thing in the list.
  • All other .esm files All .esm files MUST be before any .esp files.
  • Unofficial Oblivion Patch
  • Shivering Isles.esp
  • Unofficial Shivering Isles patch
  • Weather/Environment/Sound Mods
  • Minor Mods/New Items/Houses/DLC's (Post-Completion)
  • Note: any DLC patch should go directly after the DLC it changes, no matter where the DLC is located
  • Major Overhaul Mods (FCOM, OOO, MMM etc)
  • Any compatibility patches for the major overhaul mods
  • Mods that specifically conflict with overhauls and need to take precedence
  • DLC's (Pre-Completion)
  • Quests (these can be moved up after completion of the quest)
  • Compatibility Patches/UOMP/Merged Leveled Lists
  • Special handling mods - Streamline, Deadly Reflex etc.
  • Bashed patch (if bash is used)

After DLCs and quest mods have been completed they can be moved up. It is a good idea to have the quest you are currently working on near the end of your load order. They can be moved up when you start another quest.

After you have everything else working, add in the special handling mods (Stream line and Deadly reflex) ONE at a time.

Overview

This guide will help you install Oblivion, the official expansions and DLCs, the official and unofficial patches.

Windows Vista or Windows 7

If your operating system is Windows Vista or Windows 7, be sure to install Oblivion to someplace other than the default location under 'C:Program Files' such as C:Oblivion or D:GamesOblivion

Game of the Year Edition

You do not need to apply any Official patches to the GOTY Edition because it is already 1.2.0416.

  1. Install all Official Add-ons
  2. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (user-made mod)
  3. Install the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (user-made mod)
  4. Install the Official Construction Set 1.2.404

Install this way if you do not have Shivering Isles

  1. Install Oblivion 1.0
  2. Install Official 1.1.511 Patch (only if you want the launcher to be fully functional)
  3. Install Official 1.2.416 Patch
  4. Install all Official Add-ons
  5. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (user-made mod)
  6. Install the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (user-made mod)

Load order

There are a bunch of forum topics on this matter and they vary in implementation. Here is just one of the handy load order listings I found.

Patch install failures

Official Oblivion Patch Download

If you get an error installing a patch at 8%, check for the following which might cause the patch to fail:

  1. You must use the patch that is specific to your edition. Example: Direct2Drive editions must use Direct2Drive patches.
  2. If you use OBMM or other tool for Archive Invalidation, be sure to disable this feature, remove BSA edits and restore to default.
  3. If you use a 'cracked' Oblivion.exe to bypass the CD-Check routine, be sure to restore your original EXE file or you will need to uninstall Oblivion, clean out the Oblivion folder and install from scratch.
  4. If you installed Oblivion 1.0 and then got it patched to 1.2.0416 before installing Shivering Isles, it is possible that the installer will not work because it was expecting an older version of Oblivion. This would require uninstalling Oblivion and re-installing everything in the correct order.

Miscellaneous

Nexus Unofficial Oblivion Patch

Note about patch file size of 1.2.0416: The SI patch is smaller because the SI Install process updates Oblivion to 1.2.201, any patches after it would not need to be cumulative from Oblivion 1.0, just SI 1.2.201. If you have SI installed, the SI 1.2.416 patch contains only the fixes since 1.2.201.

If you cannot install the 1.2.0416 patch after installing Shivering Isles, try uninstalling Oblivion, then follow the same procedure except apply the 1.2.0416 patch before installing Shivering Isles.

File Listing

This is the list of files in the 'Data' folder after a clean install of Oblivion and after installing the 1.2.416 patch:
